Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

Child maintenance - variations for home schooling

Currently pay child maintenance to my ex for our 2 children, I have 1 child with my new partner and her 2 children that live with us which the amount is based on by CMS.

1 of my partners children is home schooled which is an additional expense for us - could this been used as a variation in the child maintenance I currently pay? He also has suspected autism but we don't have a diagnosis for this yet.

Many thanks in advance

Hi, I don't know of any reductions based on home schooling. Cms only go by their formula based on how many other children you support etc.

Other expense:

costs to support children who live with you if they have a disability or a long-term illness

-----‐--‐‐---‐‐------

If your able to get evidence of disability/illness then they will likely accept it.
