[Solved] Letter to son help and advice

Hello all

I’m currently in the process of the courts in regards to contact with my three children.
It’s been three years since I’ve had direct contact apart from my youngest briefly

Anyway - I have had a call from a guy today from an organisation in which Cafcass have made a referral to about trying to build some form of contact with my eldest son - who for most of this process has stated that he wants no contact with me.
He has asked me to write a letter following him having a couple of sessions with my son. He then went on to say he would like to arrange a telephone conversation following that possibility as early as next weekend.
I do feel like this is progress- the guy who phoned me seemed very fair and I did have some confidence in him that he could play a positive part in this, which I think he has.
I have around a week to write probably the most important letter of my life.

Has anyone else had any experience with this - and any guidance?
I can write a letter yes, but this is so important to me I want to make the best impression

Thanks

Hi there

That is encouraging! How old is your son?

I would keep it very light in tone, don’t make reference to the past, or his mother, just tell him how happy you are to be able to write to him and talk about everyday things, like your job, or about your favourite sports/football team. If you have a pet you could talk about that.

If you would like one of us to read through it for you, just drop any of us a PM.

All the best

Thanks for that
My son is 12, I will keep in mind his age when writing the letter.
It is encouraging and to be fair I think the chap who’s spoken to him has done a great job
