False allegations

This is really a note to anyone in a similar situation to myself where their partner has made false allegations against them.

According to the information commissioners office (ICO) you have a right to access any information held by a public body (such as a local council or school) under the data protection act. To get this information you need to complete a "subject access request" form and provide your ID.
In my personal case, allegations have been made against me and I can now get copies of any information relating to these in order to prepare for any pending court cases, should they arise. For the moment I have agreed with my partner to go to mediation and we have agreed to shared residency and equal contact. However, once bitten twice shy. I no longer trust my ex and given her behaviour, her repeated denial of my legal rights to equal access to my children and the allegations, I want to take every precaution to ensure that no such similar situation occurs in the future and that should she decide to bring these issues up in mediation or court I have proof of my innocence.

So, to all you dads out there who have partners who have lied, whether it's about domestic violence or anything else, if you can prove your innocence, prove the allegations were made in the first place, you're in a much better position legally, at least to get access to your children if not take further criminal damages action.

After reading a lot of posts on this site, false allegations seem to be a common thing. You can protect yourself!
