After some basic advice please.

Assuming I agree the financials with my wife and we agree to divorce for adultery.

How quick and easy can a divorce be?

Imagine that it will be expensive regardless.

Thanks in advance

Not necessarily. When my wife divorced her 1st husband, it cost her about £280 in total. They filled the forms in themselves. No solicitors.

On the other hand, if you involve solicitors, get ready to pay thousands. The legal process is split into the actual divorce (which cost me about £800 as I recall) and the financial element. If your experience is anything like mine, your wife's solicitor will likely encourage her to renege on agreements she made with you and insist on renegotiations of renegotiations. My wife's solicitor had no qualms about telling outright lies in writing, which even shocked my solicitor. We had agreed terms in formal mediation which her solicitor pretty much tore up and started again.

The legal fees on my financial relief alone were around £8000.

I don't have any experience of divorce but there is a particularly helpful website that can offer cheaper alternatives. It's called

Quick plus divorce do not go together unfortunately. Even if you agree it will take months. This is assuming your other half does not drag her feet and demand your lymph as well as your blood. Stay away from solicitors if you can as under siege says......

Hi Orion

You can do the divorce yourself, and the Court fees will be £410 for Petition and then a small fee for Decree Absolute. Depending on your income/benefits you may be entitled to exemption from fees, or a reduction.

I myself charge an hour's rate (much much much less than a Solicitor) for helping people complete all their divorce forms or children forms, as do Mackenzie friends. But the forms are quite easy to do yourself. and downloadable from the Court website.

In hindsight if I had somone like Enyamacheala I would do this.....Her fees are about 20% the cost of a solicitor and I can assure you with certainty the outcome is the same.........

If you can do its yourself it is a bonus but if you struggle I would recommend her.

Regards,

Boyce

Thank you Boycie 🙂 Only 20% I thought they were much less than that, but then maths is not my subject at all! 😆
