Firstly fair play to you guys for trying to give up.

However I'm in a different boat with smoking, Since the age of 8 or 9 I have been so anti smoking and would move away from anyone who was, I was as a child a severe astma sufferer and through that had pneumonia and was in hospital for a week when the doctor was releasing me he told me to stay clear of anyone smoking as it would kill me, at such a young age it scared me enough that I took notice.

Well I had never smoked anything not even tried until last year when we were in Egypt and we smoked Shisha in the hotel, I enjoyed it and we managed to buy one to bring home, after using it a few times I realised that when we did use it I slept so much better, I have had sleeping issues for years where I would wake almost every night at around 2am and not be able to go back to sleep so would get up and watch tv till 4 or 5 am then go back to bed for an hour until the alarm went off, in between using the shisha I would still wake in the same routine.

Earlier this year after a stressful few days out of the blue I picked up an electronic cigarette and smoked on my way home from work, again that night I slept straight through so I have been smoking them since, I don't get any cravings for it if I have the odd day where I don't smoke but I enjoy it when I do, and for the past 6 months or so my sleep pattern is so much better and I feel much more awake during the day, I have the occasional night where I can't get off to sleep but when I do finally drop off I sleep till the alarm goes off.

I know that even though they are electronic they are still causing harm but hopefully not as bad as smoking tabacco.

That's extremely interesting - I am also very anti smoking and very much against the e-cigarettes, but this is the first time I've heard of a benefit of using them, and you are using them for a good reason - would be good if research was done in this area and they were properly licensed. Certainly food for thought.

I decided to give up smoking to take my mind off not seeing my daughter when my ex stopped all contact I thought it would be a good way to distract myself I found it really easy but at the time I was still smoking cannabis through a pipe so that probs helped me cope.

I just went cold turkey with the cigarettes through away any baccy cigarettes ashtrays lighters the lot, I weighed 10st at the time I look bag and I can't believe what a skinny dying mess I was.

I found the worst part was the first 2 weeks but the cravings only last for about 5 minutes when I sussed this is started to get easy, I took up running bought some weight even took the weights to work with me so when I had a craving i'd just pump some iron or go for a run or drink orange just or have something to eat I ate loads of detox foods to to get t he [censored] out the system.

I now weigh 13st and at 6ft 2" it made a dramatic improvement on my size I'm not fat just filled out everywhere, my family and friends are visibly shocked when I see them they can't believe it, feels good.

I wouldn't bother with patches, pills, vapour cigs nothing all you need is a big set of [censored] a tonne of will power and plenty to keep you occupied.

Now Giving up the Cannabis was a whole different matter completely now that was hard by far the hardest thing I have ever done in my life been clean for 9 months now 🙂

It was defo a BAD idea giving up the cannabis whilst missing my daughter and the court case ect especially after smoking it every day for 20 years without a break, I literally had no sleep for 3 months when I did sleep I'd wake up in a pool of sweat with everything soaked the bed clothes everything it was awful, I had massive mood swings, depression, suicidal thoughts, I felt drunk all the time, came out in rashes. spots and I was constanly being sick I had constipation, kept breaking down constantly crying I honestly didn't know my [censored] from my elbow but same again the excersise helped running especially, I drank loads of fluids and ate like a horse it's probs took about 6 months for it all to get out my system I dont even want a spliff anymore (although I was loving the smell of it in Ibiza) I never say never but I can't see myself going back to how I was I like having a clear head I look fresh as a daisy all the bags from underneath my eyes have gone and I save £500 a month 🙂

I will say weldone to the guys that have stopped smoking. I am using a ecig at present started on 24mg and am now down to 12mg so getting there.

I used Chapix however its side effects where very bad from my view and ended up just stopping taking them. They can also mess with your minds (They did with me). From the research that i did the govenment only suggests these drugs rather than the e-cigs because they get money from them where as e-cigs they get nothing which is why they are trying to ban them.

Just food for thought i am by no way an evagalist of e-cigs they just work for me. Good luck to those guys who are trying to stop.

Started Cannabis a month ago, and i can't totally stop it. It's a stupid move to try one at the first place.

I smoked a long time ago, my college days I think, I quit when I got finished my school and found a work after that. For me smoking just doesn't give any good with my life.
