[Solved] Thinking of changing my hair style - advice please

Hi Folks

I am a male of short stature - I am only 5 foot tall, and in order to give a superficial look of being taller than I actually am, I am thinking of changing my hair style. I am thinking of having my hair flipped backwards and give it a 'bounce'.

My question is - without having to wash my hair every day and putting lots of gel on in order to flip my hair backwards, are there any products on the market which I can put on my hair that would enable me to achieve this in an easier and quicker way? Is there anything I can have done to my hair at the hair dressers in order to achieve this?

Finally, before someone starts telling me on how to gain/maintain my confidence and take pride in my height, I would be most grateful if you could just kindly advice me on the question that I have asked.

Thanks in advance for your response

Morning Geek 84

Great idea, but it will be a bit of a pain to get that 'bounce' without products.
Go to a unisex hairdresser with a lady hairdresser. They do this all the time for us women. They may suggest that the easiest way would be a 'perm' - not a dodgy curly one, but something that would give a litte wave. This would last for some weeks - depending on how long your hair is and how often it needs a cut. Not the greatest feeling to sit in a hairdresser with big rollers, but if you go to a less busy salon during the week or to one where there is plenty of competition around, then you could well be on your own. If you're looking for discreet - check out the shop window. If everyone walking past has a birds-eye view - move on!
If I want to flip my hair back it's def a strong hold gel and a mega-blast with the hairdryer. If you've got a 'cold' button your dryer this is the one that sets your hair into the style rather than just drying it.
This might sound a bit mad, but Claire's accessories do a hair comb thing that lifts the back of the hair to make it a sort of 60's beehive. It's boxed and called a bumpit. I'm not suggesting that you wear this, but use it to dry your hair over so that it gives the lift . You can then take it out - it's like a comb - and you can then faff it so it's doing the right thing. Best try this when you're not about to go out as it may be too bouffant.
A little backcombing goes a long way too. Wrecks your hair, but who cares. Hold a portion of hair and comb it from end to root. This will make your hair thicker and will be more inclined to stay in place - especially if you get rained on. Back comb the middle of your head and leave the front to cover it so that you're looking sleek. You'll need reasonably long hair - 2 inches I'd have thought. But you can do this one at home now to see if it makes a difference and can then give you an idea on what style to go for.
Finally (have you had enough already?) - go spikey. Short on the sides and spikey on top. This is a gel style, but v v easy to do and you don't need ages in front of the mirror, little scope for it go go wrong and an instant inch on top of your head - unless you go the Gary Rhodes look which may make your hair look taller than you.
Good luck - always exciting changing a look. New outfit, sorted. Have had a quick squizz on the web and there is some really good advice out there on men's dressing to look taller but bet you've already done this.
xx
