TomTom launches free satnav app

Got an Android smartphone? You can get TomTom for nothing

TomTom has launched a new premium satnav app, called TomTom Go Mobile, that is completely free to download and use.

The catch? It’s only free for your first 50 miles of usage each month.

Go over your quota and you’ll need to pay £14.99 for a year’s unlimited access to the app. A three-year subscription is also available for £34.99.

The app, which is available for Android devices, shares the same user interface as the standalone TomTom satnav units, with speed camera warnings, traffic alerts and fastest route finder all available in both free and subscription mode.

Maps for more than 100 countries are stored on your smartphone, so you’re not reliant on a data connection to see where you’re going.

Users of the current Android app can download a three year Unlimited Navigation subscription for the new MobileApp for just 50p, inclusive of TomTom Traffic and Speed Cameras.

“The TomTom GO Mobile app for Android is made for drivers who want to experience the best of TomTom on their smartphone,” says Corinne Vigreux, TomTom Consumer’s managing director.

“We have entirely re-thought our mobile solution so every driver has the chance to try navigation with TomTom Traffic. Now all Android owners can avoid the traffic jams and get to their destinations faster, every day.”
