hello all

hope you can help, I am in my early 50s and paying maintenance for my three kids, I have a work pension and of if I pay extra into my pension (I have a small pot) how do they cover these payments, has anyone done it.

I understand overpayments are then taken from the maintenance amount..

I have lost so much in a recent divorce and I need to get saving into my pension pot..

thanks 🙏

Gross income is calculated before deducting income tax and national insurance contributions, but after deducting pension contributions.

Therefore, the higher the pension contributions, the lower the gross weekly income and potentially the amount of child maintenance.
