Hi there,

ou can work this out by using the online csa calculator,

Search for it in Google, put in all the info including the child now living with you and you will see what you should pay, contact CSA and they will re asess the amount.

Hello Cotton

Thank you for your post. I am William, the Child Maintenance Options consultant.

If you currently have a family-based arrangement in place, this is simply an agreement between you and your ex-partner, so you can decide how your payments will be calculated. A family-based arrangement is not legally enforceable but it is flexible so it can be quick and easy to renegotiate if your circumstances change.

To give you an indication of how much child maintenance the Child Support Agency (CSA) may work out, there is an online calculator on our website at http://www.cmoptions.org/en/calculator/calculator.asp. You may wish to use this figure as a starting point to renegotiate your family-based arrangement.

If you have a case with the CSA, they work out child maintenance payments using a set formula, which would be based on your income. Other factors are taken into account including the number of children that need child maintenance and if you live with any other children. However, the CSA needs to see proof that Child Benefit is being paid for your daughter before they can change your payments. If you would like to discuss your payments you would need to contact the CSA directly. Their contact details can be found on any letter they have sent you, or online at https://www.gov.uk/childmaintenance.

If you have a Consent Order in place and you would like to take in to consideration your daughter who is living with you, you would need to seek legal advice about your payments. You may wish to contact the court where the order was made or you can find a solicitor in your local area at http://find-legal-advice.justice.gov.uk/.

We have a sorting out separation web-app that you may find useful, it offers help and support to separated families. You can find this at http://www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation.

If you would like to talk to our team in complete confidence about child maintenance you could give us a ring on 0800 988 0988. We also have some other useful tools on our website to help support separated parents.
