Hi all after a bit of advice as dont trust the CSA (long story but they calculated i owe them money on loses of £30k???) My question is one child has a professional contact for 1 yr that i believe he gets paid for, he's 9 yr old in full time education. Does this mean i still have to pay maintenance for him? Blocked from see kids due to an evil ex and know she spends maintenance money herself.

I'm not sure what you mean by professional contact, or do you mean contract and he has some sort of work? Either way, at 9 years old, I don't see it can be full time work as he still has to have education, and his mother will still be receiving child benefit. On that basis, you still have to pay maintenance.

Hi ckcs.

Thank you for your post. My name is William. I am the Child Maintenance Options consultant.

Here at Child Maintenance Options we provide free impartial information and support to parents and anyone else with an interest in child maintenance.

The Child Support Agency (CSA) guidelines state that child maintenance is payable while your child's mother is in receipt of Child Benefit payments and your child is aged under 16, or under 20 and in full-time non-advanced education.

For confirmation of the above you may wish to contact the CSA directly. Their contact details can be found on any letter they have sent you, or this website https://www2.dwp.gov.uk/Child Support Agency/v2/en/contact/index.asp provides their contact details.

You also mention in your post that you do not have contact with your child, contact and child maintenance are not linked in law. If you have any concerns about having contact with your child, you could get in touch with the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass). You can find further information on their website at: http://www.cafcass.gov.uk/default.aspx

For more information about maintenance and access to useful tools and forms online you can visit http://www.cmoptions.org, or if you would prefer a confidential chat you could call the Child Maintenance Options team on 0800 988 0988 (free from a landline).
