My 18 year old daughter finished her last A-level exam on Monday this week, so on Tuesday I informed the CMS that she is no longer in full time education expecting them to recalculate my payments upto the end of August – I understand I must continue paying until August 30th.
The CMS have already responded and rejected my change in circumstances, so my question is when should I inform the CMS that my daughter is no longer in full-time education?
For some additional information, my daughter is taking a gap year and is actively looking for a job before heading to university in September 2023.
Sounds like you already have told them and they have told you you need to pay until the end of August. One would assume payments would stop after this date. However I wouldn't leave anything to chance with these jokers. Ring them and ask if you need to inform them again or is your last payment in August. Then get them to write it down for you. Even if they confirmed it - I'd be ringing again in August! If I were you. They are totally incompetent.
hi,
yes I agree with previous poster, get them to give written confirmation of an end date for payments. otherwise you could end up paying till child is 20
Quick Update. So I spoke with CMS this morning, and was informed that once Child Benefit payments stop then I will be informed to stop making my CM payments. Child Benefit is due to stop on August 31st this year, and my next CM payment is due September 2nd.
Should I make the September 2nd payment, or cancel the Direct Debit and see what happens?
Hi,
I think you should send CMS a message in the self service portal, asking when final payment will take place.
