In response to the article on the DadTalk homepage by the same title, we've started this forum topic as a place for you to ask Tim Simmonds questions about how you can help your student adjust to university life.

Got a burning question? Fire away! ❓
Adjusting to them going to university is easy. It's the adjusting to them coming back that's worrying 😆
A few years away - I just hope they are not put off by the news abouts student fees etc. They should look forward to going to university as a great adventure and now it could be seen as too expensive.
I hope not
Yeah. My son will end university (3 years degree, plus one year PGCE) with about £25,000 debt - my daughter starts university next year, a 4 year course. If they remove the fees cap, then she could easily be looking at £40k debt.
And how do they expect them to be able to buy a house or save?
My daughter is hoping to go to uni Sept 2011. After all the news about fees increase it now seems that there will be a rush for places next year to miss the big fees increase coming 2012/13. Adding to that will be the people who missed out on this year's intake and the students who may have taken a gap year, but due to fees increase, decide not to and it looks like competition will be fierce.
fortunately, my daughter already has a place as she deferred. Mind you, my youngest daughter isn't due for another 6 years - heaven knows what fees will be by then. 😥
