Hi there,
my son is 9 and was born 2months prior to the law change for PR. Not married we split soon after and have had regular (30-40%) care of my son ever since but without court involvement. Two weeks ago ex stopped me having all contact with my son and here I am. Have contact order forms but not sure where I stand because of the PR law. Can I apply for contact without PR or is it implied as I have cared for my son for so long~? Please help/advise if anyone can. I have no money and am unemployed (not by choice!) at the moment. Thanks Neal

Hi there

As you posted this on the Welcome to the Forum section< I've responded there 🙂

As you are unemployed you are entitled to Legal Aid and can ask a solicitor to act on your behalf....you'll have to be quick though because Legal Aid entitlement ceases on April 1st. If your solicitor gets your Legal Aid application in before this date you should be ok. If you want to self represent theres plenty of info on here to help you. As you are unemployed you wont have to pay the £200 fee to submit the C100 and C1 forms to court. Mediation costs will also be covered.
