[Solved] New television series

As someone who gets to view TV series straight from the States before they are on over here (Don't ask), I thought I would give a run down of what new in the new American schedule:

Ringer: Stars Michelle Gellar (Buffy) as a young woman on the run from the mob. She poses as her wealthy twin sister to try and evade them, but soon discovers that her sister has a price on her head as well.

Can seem a little contrived regarding her sister committing suicide. However that aside is good fun and an interesting story.

Prime Suspect This is apparently a re-imagining of the British series. However I would put the original out of your mind. The sexism angle is still a feature of the series, however rather than the series being one sweeping arc featuring one crime, the US version is episodic with each crime being solved within an hour long show. More gritty than CSI, Blue Bloods and other police procedural drama's - its not ground breaking. Entertaining but not earth shattering.

Charlie's Angels yup, dusted down and remade. Premiss remains the same - rich faceless dude runs a detective agency, hires attractive females (Angels) and sends them into danger each week to solve crimes. Fluffy enjoyable nonsense. Wouldn't go out of your way to watch this, but if there is nothing else on then.........

I have seen the first episode. ok cos you asked for it.

Homeland: Stars Claire Daines (T3, Temple Grandin, Star Dust) and Damian Lewis. Its a psychological thriller. Basic premise is a female CIA agent gets a tip off that a US soldier in captivity has been turned by a terrorist organisation, then shortly afterwards a us soldier believed to be dead is rescued from a terrorist compound after being missing for 8 years. He is welcomed home as a hero but our heroine believes him to be the soldier her tip referred to.

First episode was great. Cast is excellent. Channel 4 have the rights to it but as of yet no date has been released for the UK.

I watched the first two episodes last night. It's great.

Clare Daines as the driven slightly damaged CIA analyst and Damien Lewis as the soldier are a cracking bit of casting. Damien Lewis is excellent, such a great actor. The story is really well told as well.

Homeland sounds interesting.

I've seen clips on TV for a series starring Michelle Geller, so maybe Ringer is due now.

I've been watching Person Of Interest . Its another new show in the states and is an interesting twist on an old format.

Basically, Michael Emerson (Ben from Lost) is Mr Finch a computer billionaire who wrote and designed the software that the states use to analyse all mobile phone traffic, emails and internet to look for terrorist plots. The software is so good however that it was producing massive lists of crimes including bog standard murders etc. Finch was asked to filter the results and produce two lists, one for the CIA and the unimportant(run of the mill) crimes. Each night at midnight the unimportant list is deleted. But Finch finds it harder to ignore the unimportant list as he feels if he has the info about potential crimes then they should be investigated so he employs John Reese to help stop the crimes from taking place. It's an interesting modern twist on an old format and because its JJ Abrams (alias, lost, fringe, star trek movie) its got some great story lines. It's becoming quite a hit in the states and is so popular that CSI was moved to a wednesday so POT could have it's timeslot in the schedule.
