My son is going to court tomorrow for his first hearing to get Parental Responsibility and access. Had a phone call from his solicitor today saying that he won't be going to court tomorrow but a barrister will be there in his place. Is this normal?

It can happen, if they are double booked or on holiday / ill etc...

i had something similar and if i could've afforded that barrister for the rest of the case as she was awesome....way better than my solicitor in fact!!

I don't see it as a bad thing.

Indeed - I had a good solicitor and an barrister, but a court room is where a barrister spends much of his/her time so they are very comfortable with the proceedings.
