[Solved] medation

hi i have been put forward for medation by my ex who gets legal aid i can not get legal aid but also can not afford the 60pound charge for set up then the 85pound a session. what am i ment to do or what happens if i not get back to them

I believe you can go to court for a contact order (I assume that is what the mediation is for) giving the reason that you didn't attend mediation as being that you couldn't afford the cost - I'd ring the court and ask them about this, and the mediation service may also advise (though it is in their financial interest not to, so beware that they may push you towards continuing mediation) - I would certainly speak to them rather than ignore, as that will look much better if it goes to court. As you don't qualify for legal aid, you would have to pay the court fee - around £200, but after that you can represent yourself and there is no additional cost.
