Hi there,

Wow 15 is very young to be a Dad!...especially as your son is already one and a half!

As you are under age I'm wondering if you might be entitled to Legal Aid anyway...its worth checking out. If you are you will be able to go to a solicitor and ask them to represent you to apply for a contact order to enable you to see your child.

I am aware of the Legal Aid reform in April....I think that as you are under the age of 16 you are still classed as a child and as such it's possible that you are entitled to legal representation regardless of the changes to Legal Aid eligibility.

There is a link to the Coram Childrens Legal Centre at the bottom of the page, they offer legal advice....I'll ask the moderators to ask them to comment on this. If you can't wait there is a helpline number and webchat on their website.

If you are not eligible and mediation has failed then you can apply to court for a contact order without a solicitor. It would cost £200 but I would assume because of your age that you will be exempt from these.

Hi,

Yes just to confirm you would be exempt from Court fees. As NJ has said give Coram a call they can give you lots of advice.

As an important thing, don't neglect your school work as you have a son who needs someone to look up to and get an idea of what good and sensible behaviour is. A positive role model.

If you look at the bottom of the page you will see a link to Coram Childrens Legal Centre...it's an advice website that can offer legal advice for anyone that doesn't have a solicitor. They have a free phone and webchat. If you contact them they will be able tell you if your age entitles you to legal aid.

Here's a link to free legal help. You can't ask them to help you directly but you can ask the Citizens Advice Bureau to refer you to them. I'm sure you would qualify financially for their help. Have a look at their website and perhaps give them a call.

"In any area of law in any area of England and Wales."

That's a quote directly from the barprobono website. At least you now have an advocate helping you, and I still can't help thinking you should get legal aid because of your age.

Best of luck.
