Hi there,
Its not complicated as other threads on this forum..

Ex wants maintenance as shes on benefit now
Im already on benefit for 5-6years
Child stays at my parents during my contact as i got some angry issues
Im travelling 150miles for pickup n drop off during holidays, with help of my family and friends

Am i still liable to pay for child maintenance?

Hi Info 🙂

If you are on benefits then I think theres a flat rate of £5 per week.

Theres a sticky at the top of the Finance section called "How does the CSA calculate payments" you'll find more information on there. 🙂

Thanks for your response

Question!
In reality, kid stays at my parents residence overnight. So day she stays overnight at my place is "0"

But i travel quiet a distance to pickup and drop off during holiday contact(not from my expense but stil i can say that in it)

Do you think of any reason where i can void paying the maintenance? :boohoo:

Hi has your ex gone to csa or are you doing it as a family based option. Are you saying you cant afford to pay the £5.00 due to travel costs etc.
If you are doing a private agreement try to explain to your ex how difficult it is with the travelling costs to see the children and you are already stetched, even though £5,00 a week doesnt seem a lot its a huge amount when you are on benefits
If your ex has gone through the csa NJ is right its £5.00 a week and you are expected to pay from the date she made the claim which would mean arrears aare already forming. Now the fact you dont have them at your place is a tricky one, but do you actually stay with them at your parents as I would argue then you are having them overnight and can put this down, but I would still say you would have to pay the £5.00 a week. Csa are being scrapped in 2014 so all agreements will have to be done between you

Yes, the flat 5 per week does not get reduced further due to travel costs or some nights spent with you. The only way you pay nothing is if you have no income at all, ie not on benefits or you are a full time student.

CSA has made the decision, they will deduct 5 off my benefit and pay it to my ex…cruel world init!

Can anyone pls tell me, Will there be any reduction in my ex benefit like JSA, housing/council, child tax/benefit cause she getting a bit of extra “income” ie the Child Maintenance???
Will child maintenance be considered as an extra income for her???
