Usually the judge will ask for the statements and also give the deadline for filing them with the court.

I was told to submit mine to court at least 1 working week (5days) prior to the hearing. My ex’s solicitors sent me hers just 2 working days before - Her statement came through on the Friday we were in court Tuesday!
I didn’t make much of a thing about it as it gave me the weekend to go through it….it did ruin my weekend a bit…and I did mention to the judge I’d only got her statement on the Friday when I got in from work! It was noted but nothing really said.

If you have to do anything like this nearer to Xmas get it special delivery and give yourself a few more days on top due to good old Royal Mail’s usual silly season delays.

At the end of the day the less time the other half has to make her statement and lies up then the better I suppose but I’ll always rather take the “Moral High Ground” and not play dirty like my ex does.

Cheers I noticed the same tactic with my Ex's lawyer told me they were sending out her statement on the Thursday afternoon post when the hearing was first thing Monday morning it would have never got to Scotland in time. Instructed her lawyer in future to email all corrospondance so they can't play delaying games. Will need to check the paperwork to see if it mentions a statement will prepare one just incase.

Dad-i-d,
Can I be nosey and ask for a brief outline what you put in your statement?

I pretty much put my point across as per every other hearing statements.

My reason for keeping going with legal action….i.e. for my son to be allowed to spend the time with me that he deserves and is his right as a child to have access to both parents equally and for me to have more time with my son.
Keep it child focused.

Then put why you should be granted more time, and pick apart the ex’s reasons for stopping contact or reducing it etc… the add in any evidence you need to refer to by saying - see evidence in section B point 1, 2 and 5 - etc…

You need to make it concise and to the point but don’t worry if it becomes 3-4pages long mine was a lot longer but I was fighting a lot of false claims that I needed to show I could prove her a liar! And did!

There are Sticky’s at the top of this section that can help with how to set it out better than I can explain.
