In court start of December, I wish I had done this ages ago. I have been in touch with a mckenzie friend, is it worth getting a solicitor aswell do you think? What's the likely outcome of the first hearing as iv asked for interim contact and what else is duscussed. I've been getting my hopes up I'd be Preety devastated if I didn't start seeing her soon. Should I be expecting a visit from cafcass? Do they come to my home?

Thank you

CAFCASS will be in touch by letter and then by phone for a brief interview. They will then produce a safeguarding letter for the court in time for the first hearing. If you want to speak for yourself, use an MF and get help with writing a position statement. If you don't want to speak for yourself, use a solicitor or barrister.

Relying on CS to get contact started and then nothing happening should form part of your position statement as an explanation of why you have waited so long to apply.

Personally I think getting advice from many different sources can be confusing, I think you've already experienced receiving advice that was conflicting, from ourselves and the FRG...I'm not saying they're advice was wrong, it was just a different approach. I wouldn't have an MF and a solicitor for just that reason. However most members will still come here for opinions even though they have outside help.

I think you need to keep a lid on your expectations at this point, because of the previous involvement with CS the court may want a further, more detailed report ,called a section 7 and courts are naturally cautious, putting the child's well being above all else.

I have been to my first hearing. It only lasted 5 minutes. I didn't take much from it except they are getting a report from the ss . Apparently it would be cafcass because they apparently only pulled out in the last couple of weeks even though I had a meeting with the ss a couple of months ago saying they pulled out so I think the ss have fixed the dates so they get to do the report. Which isn't good for me as they are very personal. Next hearing isn't until end of Feb so that's another 3 month great.

Hi There,
.
Things don't always move quickly, when you are using court, but no matter how slowly they move you are at least moving forward.
.
Thanks for the up date.
