I had a reply from Head of services at CAFCASS after letter from my MP. Basically not interested, said that if I wasn't happy with the court I should seek legal advice. I'm writing a detailed letter back, along the lines of if you hadn't taken all my access away based purely on what my wife said, irregardless of what I said, I wouldn't need legal advice. In this day an age this is the only thing I can think of where anybody (fathers in these cases) is guilty before going to court. So one sided.

CAFCASS is a joke and is only favorable to the mother.I will pray to god that in the next life dont make me father instead make me mother.I have not seen my son for the last 12 months.I was the main care taker of the child till 3 years.

it absurd...

if you are the father, basically you don't have the chance to answer back to the other part, after that she did it

and you can only wait for...what? at the end? if they don't believe what you can say or proof

unbelievable

I just had my first cafcass telephone interview. It took nearly two hours and I can honestly say that the person I spoke to seemed unbiased and was just trying to ascertain facts. A section 7 report will be ordered but I expected that anyway and I didn't expect contact conditions to change until that report is completed.

Fingers crossed. I have no idea how long this will all take but I can only wait and find out.

how contact centres work

Courts must take a cautious approach where there has been allegations made, the child's safety is their only priority and until they can be sure there is no risk they won't sanction unsupervised contact. Perhaps you could suggest using a contact centre to see your children, until the report has been done and the court make a decision?

I had my CAFCASS S7 report back recently and it was brilliant. The officer saw straight through my ex's nonsense, slated her in the report, recommended that my proposed contact plan be implemented with some helpful changes that she suggested to make it more workable, and said that my ex- needed counselling to deal with her issues to stop them from messing up our kids. So they aren't all bad. 🙂

I agree with Mojo that requesting supervised contact could be a way forward. If there has been a significant break in contact, depending on the age of your children, this is something that could be ordered by the court to re-establish it anyway.

Marwood, I am glad to hear that you have had a positive experience with your S7. They're not all bad.

Good luck
